Uma Seaman

Owner/Director, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher

I’ve had a passion for this work my entire adult life and have been a licensed, practicing massage therapist for 30 years and a Yoga teacher for 28. Yoga and bodywork are the 2 things that have had the most profound impact on my life, and I have dedicated my work to sharing them.

I studied massage therapy at Educating Hands School of Massage in Miami, Florida and hold a long list of certifications in allied modalities. As a bodyworker, I specialize in Deep Tissue Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release, Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage and Bamboossage. I have a kind heart and strong hands.

I was certified Teacher of  Yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Ranch in Woodborune, NY in 1992. With continued study of different styles and the deeper aspects of Yoga, I was lead to India where I studied, practiced and taught Yoga. My extensive bodywork background gives my classes a therapeutic approach. My deep Yogic roots merge meditative flow with structural alignment, allowing a safe and positive environment for students explore and develop their own Yoga practice.

I created Massage-Ology with a passionate desire and lofty objective: to inspire and educate therapists so that we can soften the rough edges of the world by healing one body at a time. Come and Enjoy the Best Massage in Aiken!

Terri Rourk

Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Yoga Teacher

I was a stay at home mom and working out with a personal trainer in 2002 and in 2004, I became a Licensed Personal Trainer myself. I discovered I enjoyed working with clients to help them rehab after knee and hip replacements. This was the beginning of my journey to alternative health and would eventually lead me to Massage Therapy.

When my step mother died of cancer in 2005, I became interested in nutritional healing. I started seeing a chiropractor who specialized in Applied Kinesiology.  His care for me and my family changed my outlook on traditional medicine. After I suffered  a head injury in 2007 that left me with vertigo and short term memory loss, his drug free treatment with adjustments and muscle testing literally changed my life when all traditional medical treatments failed!

Then my path got a little bumpy, but I recovered with Yoga. After divorcing Satan (FYI: not the father of my children, and not his real name), I went to Yoga Teacher Training  at Asheville Yoga Center in NC and healed happily in my 3 week “yoga bubble.” It was a submersion in yoga, meditation and breath work that opened my mind and my heart to a whole new approach to life! I am deeply moved by a quote from Buddha, “What we think, we become”. My new direction of self-care and self-love inspired me to share my gift of mindfulness and healing with others.

I began with studying Naturopathy and Nutritional Healing. It is my belief that health is determined by how we take care of our bodies, the food we eat and the lifestyle we live. It was years of experiences with people and practices that made a profound difference in my quality of life and well being that lead me to Massage Therapy.  It created a desire in me to share my “healing touch” in a mindful way.

In 2020, I joined Massage-Ology to train and work with Uma Seaman in Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage and several other Eastern modalities. In Michael Angelou’s last words “Ancaro Imparo” – “And still I am learning “
